L’ARTISAN PARFUMEUR

Brand details

L'Artisan Parfumeur began with a joke, when Jean Laporte was challenged to create a matching perfume for the banana costume a friend planned to wear at a Folies Bergère masquerade ball.

A banana perfume may have been an unusual request for this trained chemist, but it appealed to his passion for plants, and so he created his first fragrance inspired by the treasures of nature.

This event sparked Jean Laporte’s vision for a perfume house honouring the beauty and integrity of each ingredient, and the desire to offer customers the most personalised experience possible, transforming the purchase of perfume into an intimate olfactory occasion. Thanks to a banana, Mr. Laporte became the pioneer of what is now known as “niche perfumery”.

Inspired, he opened his first boutique on Rue de Grenelle in Paris, where his debut collection was a success. By now Jean Laporte was recognised as a true artist, and L’Artisan Parfumeur had acquired a reputation as the fragrance lovers’ perfume. And connoisseur brand.

Made with passion and artisanal finesse, each fragrance represents an aromatic journey, imbued with the creative flair of its perfumer. As masters of their art, perfumers develop the harmony and structure of their chosen notes, as well as their subtle evolution on the skin. In tribute to the founding principles of the brand, L’Artisan Parfumeur’s perfumes unite craftsmanship with the wild allure of nature.

One of the brand’s icon, Mûre et Musc, has made its mark on the history of modern perfumery, while the terracotta Amber Balls are unique works of handmade art, exclusive to the house since its creation.

L’Artisan Parfumeur embodies the spirit of Jean Laporte's original dream: to shape nature’s palette by the hand of the artist—the perfumer. And as testament to their timeless modernity, L'Artisan Parfumeur’s perfumes have remained unchanged since their creation over 40 years ago
