DUCKHORN

Brand details
Based on the simple truth that great wines come from great grapes, and with a 25-year commitment to sourcing the best grapes, Duckhorn now owns 180 acres of fine vineyards in Napa Valley. Since the winery’s inception in 1978, founders Dan and Margaret Duckhorn have focused their attention and expertise on Merlot, a grape that Dan became deeply enamored with while traveling through the Saint-Emilion and Pomerol regions of France. Indeed, Duckhorn’s Merlot is a fine wine that combines the velvety texture of Pomerol, its relaxed, supple feel, and the cohesive flavors of Napa Valley soil. Their first wine, the 1978 Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, was hand-picked and selected to great acclaim, and Sauvignon Blanc was added to the lineup in 1982. Today, Duckhorn is made up of three wineries, each with its own unique specialization: Duckhorn Vineyards, which produces Bordeaux-style wines; Paradux, which produces wines made primarily from the most American of grapes, Zinfandel; and Goldeneye, which produces Pinot Noir.
